Cellar Theater
Iraq, 2005,
a Shiite and a Sunni enter a small hotel to meet with an American
Journalist, George Packer, to give an insider’s overview of life in
Iraq since the arrival of American Forces. Both men eagerly
welcomed the Americans and readily went to work for the American
Consulate in Baghdad. Over time, however, working for the Americans
became increasingly dangerous. The Americans don’t trust the Iraqi,
and now, many of their own countrymen consider them traitors and
hunt them as the enemy. The horrors of life in Iraq and the
struggle to survive makes for edge-of-your-seat drama. We are
thrilled to present the Texas premiere of this amazing play, adapted
by Mr. Packer, author of the acclaimed book “The Assassins’ Gate:
America in Iraq,” from an article he wrote for The New Yorker in
March 2007.
